Fri 30 Aug 2019 Netlify: publish local web site folders.

05:13 AM GMT LEARNED HOW TO DEPLOY A LOCAL FOLDER SITE USING NETLIFY/(WITHOUT NEEDING TO USE GITHUB)

I was watching a YouTube video...which showed one how it's possible to deploy a web site which is stored inside of  a folder on your local computer...by using the FREE Netlify online service.

http://www.netlify.com

Quite simply, 'drag and drop' the folder onto the Netlify user interface...and, that's it, your site within seconds...is all of a sudden fully up and working having been published on the internet...also, you are given a unique URL address to use/or, share with others.

https://happy-jackson-2d3a80.netlify.com/

It is also possible to just as easily 'delete' the site you've gone and uploaded.

Click button: [Site settings] > Danger Zone > Delete this site > type in the site URL name, and, confirm by hitting [Delete] button.

NOTE: It is also possible to change the site name if you wish...go [Site settings] > Change name > Type in the new site name.

That is pretty damned remarkable for an entirely FREE service. It also means I can create my own Netlify web site...as being called:

https://paulramnora.netlify.com

...and, I can have as many 'static' pages as I please. This site still needs to be hugely expanded on, in future.

I'm also thinking to myself what other FREE services can Netlify offer me, I wonder...?

Thu 29th Aug 2019/Job Search/Streatham sign on/Norwood GPO/Shopped: Aldi/Iceland/Vauxhall art class/Tate Britain/Remakery event meeting

-(I wrote this post the next day...very early morning: 03:31 AM; so, it's all based on carefully recollected events.)-

10:20 AM AWOKE: DID JOB SEARCH ONLINE

I went to sleep really late...somewhere around 2:30 AM morning. So, I had a difficult time waking up, early. Deep inside the back of my mind, I knew I had to sign on at Streatham Job Centre, today; just wasn't too sure at what time...?

Anyway, I awoke with a 'start' at 10:20 AM...thinking to myself oh no...I might already be 'late'; however, when I went and checked by looking at the job centre appointment card...it actually said that the appointment was due at 11:20 AM. So, I still had 1 hour left to go.

I used that 1 hour...to, first, do an online job search; which I hadn't been doing since all week long. Then, of course, I had to get myself ready to go out.

11:20 AM VISITED STREATHAM JOB CENTRE: SIGNED ON WITH RICHARD

When I arrived at the job centre, much to my surprise, even though I actually signed in to the job centre computer to prove I did the job search; the guy who I signed on with called, Richard; didn't really want to know. Instead, he said we'll check another time. Then, he let me 'sign on'; and, I simply left.

11:40 AM SHOPPED AT STREATHAM ALDI SUPERSTORE

I did some shopping inside of Streatham Aldi superstore; explaining to the girl at the till...that I only had no more than £8.00 to spend on my card; therefore, if I have taken up too many goods...so that the card won't cover the bill...then, I will need to return back stuff. I returned back 2 sets of Duracell batteries/plus, I thick bag. Otherwise, I brought...

3 x bags of potatoes
1 x set of tomatoes
2 x tins of Tuna
4 x tins of baked beans
1 x large blue thick shopping bag to carry everything in

At first, I wasn't too sure if the bag would hold everything...without breaking...but, luckily, I had no problems at all; reaching all the way back home quite safely...having balanced the bag on my bikes handlebars.

1:30 AM VISITED WEST NORWOOD POST OFFICE

I was aware that I needed, quite desperately, to make a deposit into my current a/c.;  because my balance actually said: £0.00. So, I had to pop down to West Norwood post office to make the deposit.

1:40 AM SHOPPED ICELAND SUPERMARKET

I brought stuff in West Norwood Iceland supermarket...

1 x Castello cheese with pinapple £1.00
1 x pack of 8 bottles of orangeade Lucozade £3.80
1 x cat food/40 pouches £10.00

I went back down the road to get the cat food, later on; so, that was 2 separate trips I made to visit Iceland.

3:40 PM WENT ART LESSON WITH LIL SULLIVAN/ACKERMAN MEDICAL CENTRE/VAUXHALL

I hadn't been to an art lesson in 2 weeks long; so, this time, because it was a nice clear sunny day...plus, I was already dressed...I made my mind up to go.

I gave Jenny -a girl who I had promised some FREE art materials to-

2 x Sketchbooks: A3/A5
1 x Pentel pastel set...12 colours
1 x Carrying pouch
...plus, a plastic CoOp bag to carry everything in. She 'thanked' me, of course.

The other girl I saw there was Kate; who I didn't bring anything for; but, then, I didn't know she would be there. Maybe, next time.

During the class, I worked using my own 'graphite stick' pencil...and, drew 1 female head (not very well)/followed by 2 attempts to draw a miniature bird sculpture.

Because, I had arrived 'late', as usual; it wasn't too long before the class was done at 5 PM.

Lil, did mention, however, that during this same evening...at 6:30 PM; they would be having an event meeting at The Remakery; please, come along...all those who can. I promised to go; but, first, I wanted to go and visit seeing Tate Britain.

5 PM VISITED TATE BRITAIN GALLERY/COPIED AN EYE/DREW A GIRLS HEAD FROM MEMORY

When I arrived at Tate Britain gallery...I saw 2 girls keeling down near the couch...practising doing some drawing. I girl was 'brown'/another one 'white'. I really admired the 'white' girls drawing of an eye/and, I liked seeing the other girls head.

So, I went and got some papers; drew the Indian looking girls head...from memory.

Afterwards, I went and copied out the white girls drawing of an eye...which she had 'falsely' signed...Helen, 5 YRS/my copy said, Helen, 4 YRS.

By this time Tate Britain was closing down. So, I grabbed 3 papers/together with a pencil...and, left knowing I need to reach The Remakery at 6:30 PM.

6:30 PM VISITED THE REMAKERY EVENT MEETING/VAUXHALL

I arrived at the Remakery at around 6:25 PM; however, no Lil was there, yet. So, I decided to go and fetch her...she only lives 4 or 5 doors away from there. I told her the meeting was about to start...and, they were waiting for her. She said how many people had come...and, I answered I saw around 6/7.

We both left walking off to The Remakery. Eventually, though, more and more people arrived; I'd say, ultimately, there must have been 15 or so; including Remakery teachers/art students/people who were just simply interested/-etc.

We were all asked to introduce ourselves...so everybody would know our names...and, what we were about.

One guy, I distinctly remember...I forgot exactly what he said his name was...but, he was 'black'...and, mentioned he was gay/and, also, HIV Positive. Once he had mentioned that combination...I immediately decided to leave; not wishing to seem extremely rude...I didn't just rush out; but, waited for the meeting to have a break. Finally, they said...the introductions were over...and, now, they were having a 'social'. That's when I walked up to Lil...and, apologised...telling her, I worried about how my mum is...so, I'm leaving; and, then, I went off without saying goodbye to anybody else there.

CONCLUSION

When you do suffer from Social Phobia/and, also, Autism...then, it can be really difficult going to meet 'stranger' people. Some of the people I had already seen before...and, seeing/meeting them again...made me feel fairly safe/relaxed/comfortable.

Seeing all of those 'stranger' people, though...and, also, taking part in a big 'group' event...did not make me feel comfortable, at all...instead, the bigger the group became as more and more people turned up...then, the more and more, I felt...joining in was not such a good idea at all...as, I just wanted to 'run'. That's a part of Autism...we like what is 'familiar'...what's new...we tend to move away from.

Normally, I don't tend to mix with 'gays'...if I can ever possibly help it; unless it's unknowingly, of course. I don't wish them dead or anything; and, I never beat one up before; but, it's like they have their own particular lifestyle/and, I have mine...so, they can go their way/and, me, I prefer to go mine.

Frankly, due to experiencing the very high stress level I felt inside...I'm not sure I wish to attend any more large Remakery meetings ever again.

Having Autism, keeps one isolated...having few/or, no friends...which is the downside; well, it's a downside if you miss friendships(sometimes, I do/other times, I don't); on the other hand, the upside to the condition is...you don't have to deal with loads of people who you might not get along with, neither...this is because having loads of friends...means, friends can, sometimes, turn to become enemies...that is, if one isn't too careful; people go off one another for either logical/or else, illogical reasons. So, as my natural tendency is to remain entirely isolated...by keeping myself heavily cocooned off from the rest of society...also serves to protect me an awful lot from life's many miseries, as well.

On the other hand, I might well pay to be a monthly member of The Remakery; because I need to learn how to do woodworking/iron work; but, I will work mostly on my own...and, not as being a part of any large group.

Wed 28th Aug 2019 Tate Britain...took 3 drawings home/gave another 1 away to some Asian stranger admirers.

-(This post is being written at 1 AM very early Thursday morning; so, it is a recollection of what happened before, yesterday.)-

3:30 PM WENT TO STOCKWELL TO WITHDRAW SOME MONEY/TOO 'LATE'...PLACE SHUT

I wanted to withdraw some money from an account in Clapham; however, when I arrived there somewhere around 4 PM; the place was already shut.

So, I decided to continue riding...

4 PM VISITED TATE BRITAIN GALLERY/DID SOME DRAWINGS USING A MULTI-COLOURED PENCIL

As is my usual wont whenever I visit Tate Britain...I head straight off into the 'drawing room'...where they provide FREE drawing paper/materials to draw with/plus easels...and, this is where the statue: Man Wrestling a Python is kept...; which is what I mostly tend to practice drawing whenever I get there. (Then, gradually, whenever I get bored of doing that one same thing...if there is enough time...I wonder around going off to draw something else, instead.)

I remember executing 4 drawings...using a 'multi-coloured' pencil I'd found...

1> 1 x sketch of a female head...as she stood up drawing the sculpture: Man Wrestling with a Python; I sat down behind her...and, practised drawing her upper half from the back: head/body/purse with long strap hanging down around her back. (I left that drawing on the easel behind/neither dated/or signed)

2> 1 x sketch of the sculptures foot.

3> 1 x  full size sketch of the whole sculpture (gave this one away)

4> 1 x sketch of the head of Jesus Christ (imaginary)

An interesting incident happened. An Asian man: Chinese/Korean/...I'm really not sure...saw me drawing the full size sculpture...and, immediately, started capturing it on his mobile phone. I simply just completely ignored him...; and, just kept drawing.

When closing time came...I walked out of the gallery...and, sitting on the steps was the same man...along with some 2 others of his family...both female; and, when he saw me come out...he immediately approached...and, replayed to me his video capture...of me drawing inside of Tate Britain Gallery...drawing the full size sculpture. I just looked, and, laughed. He walked back to go sit down with his family on the gallery steps.

Then, I went and signed the full size drawing with my name; and, also, wrote on the paper Tate Britain, London, UK. I didn't date it...because I'd forgotten all about the date/time? I walked up to the guy, and, gave him the drawing/sketch for free. At first, he refused it...; as did the rest of his family; but, I pretty much insisted they keep it, instead; eventually, they gave in.

As I unchained my bike...to go ride off towards seeing Rodin's Sculpture located at the park near the Houses Of Parliament/Parliament Square; I gave them a wave to say goodbye; and, they waved back at me.

RODIN'S SCULPTURE: THE BURGERS OF CALAIS/DREW A FOOT(NOT VERY WELL?!)

When I arrived at Rodin's Sculpture, I draw just one foot; and, then, left. That is, of course, after staring at the Rodin Sculpture: The Burger's of Calais...constantly walking around it...and, seeing it from all sides; staring at it for, at least, 1/2 an hour long...if not 1 whole hour. Rodin, is such a 'master' of human form/feelings/bodily and facial expressions.

8 PM WENT AND VISITED SEEING CHRISTIE'S IN PICCADILLY

I didn't quite wish to go home, yet...; as being home is so damned boring...always doing the same types of thing...sitting down watching the TV/Internet...or else, watching YouTube videos on the computer.

So, instead, I decided to go and check out seeing...the autistic guy: Stephen Wiltshire's gallery. Of course, the time is 'late'...so, you can't go in...but, still you can look into the glass screen from on the outside. Most unfortunately, I couldn't find it...?!

Instead, I ended up finding Christie's auction house...they, too, were closed; but, they had some printouts of works sold on the outside...along with text explaining what it all is about:

-Elizabeth Taylor jewellery
-Chinese porcelain/gold bars...found on sunken ship.
-Tiepolo painting (private collection)
-etc.

I rode home past Victoria coach station/Pimlico/over into Vauxhall. I even stopped at Van Gogh Walk...to check out the book exchange...but, found nothing worthwhile keeping inside there. Stopped at Herne Hill...gallery; looked in through the window glass...seeing paintings of the close by district/Brockwell park/-etc. Very impressed.

Finally, I arrived back home somewhere around 9:30 PM.

Tuesday 27 August 2019

Tue 27 Aug 2019 Post Office/Shopped: CoOp/Grocery/Superdrug/Pharmacy chemist/Tate Britain-2 drawings left behind: foot/head

4:00 PM WENT DOWN TO THE POST OFFICE

-(I'm writing this post 2 days, afterwards; because the date is now Thu 29th Aug 2019/time: 00:33 AM; so, everything I write here is recalled from memory.)-

Went to the post office; made a deposit into my current account.

SHOPPED ALONG WEST NORWOOD HIGH STREET

First, I did some shopping inside of CoOp...

1 x tub of Tuna and corn spread
1 x tub of Egg Mayonnaise
6 x flakes (£1 for 2)
1 x thick carrier bag

Second, I did some shopping inside of the grocery shop located across the road from the CoOp along West Norwood high street.

5 x packets of Jamaican Water Crackers
1 x Jamaican white bread
1 x Jamaican bun
2 x packets of rice (2 different varieties)

Third, I went into Superdrug chemist where I brought...

1 x bottle of Surgical Spirit
1 x bottle of Witch Hazel

The guy that served me also signed me up for a Superdrug store card which he gave me on the spot. It states 100 points = £1.00 off. I think, £1.00 is worth 1 point...and, already, I had collected 4 points.

Forth, I went into the Pharmacy shop located below Superdrug where I brought...

6 x packets of Glucose sweets (different flavours)
1 x Belladonna plaster

Finally, I returned back home...carrying 5 bags...hanging them on my bikes handle bars.

VISITED TATE GALLERY

I know I went to visit Tate Gallery...after getting my bike fixed; so, if it wasn't on Monday...then, it must have been, Tuesday. Anyway, I recall arriving fairly 'late'...at around closing time...and, I executed doing 2 drawings...of a statue: Man wrestling with a Python...; I drew a foot/and, also, a head...both of which drawings I signed/dated; and, then, left behind. (Frankly, I deeply regretted leaving those 2 drawings behind; as the paper was of thick 'good quality'...and, I really and truly should have kept those drawings, instead; but, nevermind, as there will always be a next time.)

I believe after the gallery closed down for the evening; I went off to view Rodin's sculpture: The Burger's of Calais.

GAMBLED AND LOST £20.00

Much to my shame/horror...I went and gambled away £20.00...playing William Hill Roulette; first, I deposited £10.00...and, almost immediately lost that; then, decided to chase after my losses thinking if I put in another £10.00...this time it will win; only it didn't, instead, I ended up very quickly losing another £10.00; after that I decided this is not my lucky day...so, I'm not putting any more money into gambling. I quit leaving with a £0.00 balance. I cannot believe how stupidly I behaved...but, it is as it is...and, as they say, there's no point crying over spilled milk; though, I certainly felt extremely sad inside; depressed, actually.

Mon 26th Aug 2019/Web Dev/Collected bike/Visited Lydia/Shopped: Aldi/Iceland/QB64: Multiple choice QnA Test

04:25 AM WORKING ON CREATING/BUILDING WEB PAGES

Was watching a YouTube web development tutorial video...where the guy: Jake Wright, claimed he could teach someone to build a web site in only just 12 minutes...using a mixture of both: HTML/CSS...so, I decided to watch.

Learn CSS in 12 Minutes

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=0afZj1G0BIE

Having witnessed seeing his rather brilliant example video/and, the web site he created; though simple...yet, I thought it was extremely effective.

Next, I decided to give myself the challenge...of re-creating what he had built...working only from memory alone of the code I seen displayed inside of his video.

So, I hopped over to JSFiddle.net to go and have a play; (by using JSFiddle...it would be possible for me to 'share' the code with others, afterwards).

Unfortunately, I didn't bother to 'sign in' to JSFiddle.net...which I should have done straight from the start. Instead, I only choose to 'sign in' when my code was already done; only, now, I found that I couldn't 'copy and paste' the code I'd written...because my web browser [<< Back] button had, all of a sudden, stopped working...?!

Then, I realised that all I had left as proof that I'd written the code was an MS Paint screen shot I had previously taken as I worked. It was possible to rather painstakingly recreate the same code by copy-typing it all out...line by line....following all that was seen inside of the screenshot.

I built this web page template...which went through multiple different variations. One could experiment with creating different variations all day/night long, in fact; at some point, it's just got to stop!

Decided to end my rounds of experimentation after creating this personal web page...

NOTE: I did have some problems getting the above site to be 'responsive'...; this is a very important subject which I still need to work on learning.

05:30 AM THINKING ABOUT COLLECTING MY REPAIRED BIKE FROM BRIXON HALFORDS

Yesterday, Sunday, I checked my answer machine for messages; and, it said a message was left sometime during Saturday...saying, I should come and collect my repaired bike from Brixton Halfords; the cost would be £76.49.

At the same time, British Gas sent me an electric bill reminder stating that I've been late in making my regular fortnightly payments of £5x.xx.

So, I'm really not too sure about which of these bills I will try and tackle, first.

Anyway, right now, I'm feeling really tired...and, just wish to retire off to bed.

5 PM WENT AND COLLECTED MY BIKE FROM BRIXTON HALFORDS

My original intention was to go and visit West Norwood post office; only when I arrived there they were already closed; I didn't realise it was Bank Holiday!

Afterwards, because it was such a nice hot sunny day...I decided why not 'walk' down to Brixton Halfords. I took the route of cutting across Brockwell Park in Herne Hill...then, coming out on the Effra Road entrance side.

I had take just £35.00 along with me; which when I gave it to the guy...I was surprised that he returned to me some change: £4.50+...as I thought the cost of the bike repairs would be £76.49; as was previously quoted on the answer machine message. However, the guy allowed me to take my bike away same day...which I thought was a bit strange?!

LATEST UPDATE

270819 1:50 PM I phoned Brixton Halfords the next day; and, inquired if I need to come in to pay some more money for having gotten the bike fixed; spoke to Angus...he replied, no; the original price quote he gave me was for customers 'without a Careplan'; but, as I do have a Careplan -(3 years/which is still, currently, running)- therefore, I only need to pay for parts/not labour costs; so, everything is fully paid. Frankly, I feel amazed...that means, both the cost of replacing both the broken derailer/plus, chain...came to just £30.00.

6 PM WENT STOCKWELL

In Stockwell, I went and collected post from my mum's flat; and, then, immediately decided to return back home. The single combination bike lock I had was not very strong; and, I didn't wish to chain up my bike somewhere that it could be stolen. Instead, I decided to ride all the way home...so, I can install proper locks onto the bike.

6:30 PM WENT TO VISIT LYDIA KING IN THE CARE HOME

As I returned back home...coming up through Streatham...St Leonard's Church; I decided why not go and visit seeing, Lydia King...who is a childhood family friend...now, old/and, in fact, completely 'paralysed'...she lives inside of a care home that is just off to the side of St Leonard's Church.

I went into the care home; and, after signing the visitor book; I went and spoke to Lydia for around 15 minutes long; then, afterwards, left her to sleep.

7 PM SHOPPED STREATHAM ALDI

Inside of Aldi Superstore...I brought...

1 x bag of potatoes £1.69
1 x tub of butter £1.25
1 x packet of extra strong mints £1.69
Total: £3.79
...then, when I realised that pair of 2 plastic bags I had brought along inside of my packet couldn't really handle the weight; I went and brought another plastic bag...
1 x plastic shopping bag £0.09p

...came back home...taking the 'short cut' way...going across the pedestrian crossing from Streatham train station; then, went down the staircase.

8 PM SHOPPED AT ICELAND

Inside of West Norwood Iceland Superstore...I brought...

1 x box of 4 ice cream lollies...costing just £1.00.

-(It was a slightly embarrassing incident when I tried to pay the £1.00 using 2 different debit cards; and, both returned the same message back saying: 'unauthorised'; this is because I have no money left on either of these accounts. So, instead, I was forced into paying cash...luckily enough I had just a single £1.00 coin left inside of my trouser pocket.)-

9 PM CREATED A 'MULTIPLE CHOICE Q&A TEST' USING QB64

Saturday 24 August 2019

Sun 25th Aug 2019 Set up Visual Studio Code/plus, Live Server/Joined: flote.app/KodeKloud/B4X.COM/CSS Positioning

VISUAL STUDIO CODE/LIVE SERVER EXTENSION PLUG IN

I decided to go open up Visual Studio Code...which I did already download some time back; but, then, hardly ever used.

After seeing a few YouTube 'web development' tutorials which used it...I thought to myself why not go give it another try...in particular, I wished to find out how 'Live Server' works...?

As it is, I didn't find it much too difficult to set up...; and, get working successfully.

However, right now, I'm still struggling to work out how to load/use other plug in extensions, such as:
->  Emmet
-> GitHub
-> NodeJS
-etc.

Looking through VSC menus...I can see there are also options for loading: Terminal/Debugger/-etc.; none of which options I've ever tried using, yet?

Here I have a go at playing around with using Git source control...so far, I figured out how to...
-> See which files are Untracked: (U)
-> Add files to the stage: (A); also, unstage files
-> Commit files; also, undo ALL changes
...most unfortunately, though, when I tried to PUSH those changes it wouldn't let me...as it says I haven't yet set up the details of where the PUSHED files are to go.

And, here I'm playing around with using the Terminal/Powershell...; so far I figured out how to...
-> Create files using Windows notepad: notepad filename.ext
-> List files using DIR/LS
-> Delete files: DEL filename.ext
...and, I've still not even merely scratched the surface of what's more to learn, yet...? In particular, the use of Powershell...still remains a very 'dark'/or, unknown art to me. I did try looking into its commands before, yes, ages ago; but, my memory is such, that I completely forget...which is mainly due to lack of constant practice.

If you are going to be a 'developer'; then, it's very important that you understand how to work with using the most popular freely available code editors...; these include...

-> Atom
-> Brackets.io
-> Notepad ++
-> Sublime Text
-> Visual Studio Code
-> -etc.

You also need to know how to work using 'terminals'...
-> MS DOS
-> Powershell
-> Unix/Linux
-> -etc.

If you don't understand how to add/use plug in's...how to set up 'live servers' to work with code editors/how to work with using menus/what the various different keyboard short cuts are...and, so on...; then, you really don't know nothing, yet!

The reason why that is...is because when you know how to work with a good code editor...then, your workload can, sometimes, be cut in half. For example, it might take me  a good 3 to 5 minutes just to create a simple [barebone.html] document; whereas using a plug in such as Emmet...in 1 second the [barebone.html] document has already been created.

I'm sure that one could easily spend a whole entire day...both day/night...just learning how to use the editor, alone; if not having to go take whole entire weeks to actually learn it; there are so many commands to learn/and, there is so much that 'modern day' editors can do...it's actually pretty damned amazing; and, this in turn reflects the 'complex' nature of web development now-a-days.

It's due to having to confront this learning curve...why I tend to much prefer sticking to using straight forwards and simple Windows Notepad application...which contains relatively few bells and whistles being added on; you can't even open multiple files at a time using it...; but, instead, it can only cope with just one file, alone; if you wish to deal with multiple files...then, you would need to open up multiple different Notepad application windows; because there is no MDI-Multiple Document Interface; however, these 'new' editor applications are nearly all MDI based; as well as, having different syntax colours/error highlighting...to cope with many different programming languages. Notepad doesn't have any of that...; so, one can learn to use all of the functions of Notepad...in around 10 minutes. At the end of the day, though...I need to move on...go up the ladder...instead, of remaining dead stuck exactly where I already am...otherwise, my coding capabilities might never improve.

04:24 AM JOINED: FLOTE.APP

Joined site called: flote.app
...not altogether too sure what it's about, yet; it looks like they exchange messages/'bit coints' together...; but, will need to do some more further research in order to learn more.

(I only joined because the PreSearch.org advert came up, repeatedly; which, eventually, made me want to 'click'....; I guess, this just goes to prove that seeing 'repeated adverts' really works, sometimes; if not always. Which brand of goods would you much rather buy...; an 'unknown'/totally 'unheard of' brand/or, a brand which millions of people do already know about as it's been seen advertised, regularly through the media channels....?)

10:29 AM JOINED: KODEKLOUD.COM

I was watching a YouTube video...explaining what Docker is...and, how to use it...this video impressed me an awful lot...as -(unlike with a lot of videos whose explanations I tend to find confusing)- the teaching was very straight forwards and clear. Teacher: Mumshad Mannambeth.

05:01 AM WORKING ON LEARNING HOW TO USE CSS POSITIONING

Watched a YouTube video...from: techsith channel...teaching one about how to learn to use CSS positioning rules.

Sat 24th Aug 2019 Practised creating: Tic Tac Toe Game/(Manual/Semi-automatic versions/Thinking about other versions...)

GAME : TAC-TAC-TOE : MENU

The first thing I did was create a menu...; which offers up 2 different versions of the game.

GAME : TAC-TAC-TOE : VERSION 1/(MANUAL)

Next, I went and created a very simple -(HTML/CSS based)- manual version of the game where...
> each player uses the keyboard to enter their player marker entry onto the board
> when the game is done...which the players must decide for themselves
> they hit the [Reset game] button to re-start the game afresh using a board without any marker on it

GAME : TAC-TAC-TOE : VERSION 2/(SEMI AUTOMATIC)

In my next attempt, I created a semi-automatic version of the game, instead; -(using HTML/CSS/Javascript)-; in this version of the game..
> each player clicks on a button...and, automatically, a player marker is chosen; whenever it's the next players turn to move...the player marker switches, automatically around: X/O...(so there is no longer any need to keep on typing each marker's move in)
> when the game is done...which the players must decided for themselves
> they hit the [Reset game] button to re-start the game afresh using a board without any markers on it

GAME : TAC-TAC-TOE : VERSION 3/(FULLY AUTOMATIC)

My hope is that, eventually, I will find enough time/patience to create a fully automatic version of the game...where the Javascript outputs a dialog box...saying: 'X won'/or, 'O won'/or, maybe, even stating 'the game is a draw'; then, when the user clicks on that dialog box [OK] button...the game will, automatically, reset to start again.

GAME : TAC-TAC-TOE : VERSION 4/(PLAYER VS COMPUTER)

The ultimate version of the game is where one could either choose either...
> Player vs Player
> Player vs Computer
> and, the rest being 'fully automatic' just as in version 3.

-----

NOTE: I have already created such games in the past both fully automatic/as well as, player vs computer; however, as I haven't been creating such games, regularly; therefore, a lot of the programming logic behind it I sort of forgot...can only, partially, remember.

I've also been feeling extremely 'lazy'...can't fully concentrate...got too many other problems to worry about. How to pay this or that bill? How to fix up the house? Need to catch up with doing house work? My lack of physical fitness... -etc.

Sometimes, when stress gets too much...I just 'give up'; and, go watch TV/Internet videos, instead; which seems to demand much less effort. Just minutes ago, I was watching a YouTube internet video related to building UI-User Interfaces.

EXPERIENCING LOTS OF COMPUTER DEVELOPMENT PROBLEMS

Using my Desktop computer...which is what I mostly prefer to work on...instead, of iPad 4...for 2 reasons...

1> It has a much bigger screen

2> It has a full size keyboard

Unfortunately, there are 2 things repeatedly going wrong on the Desktop machine...

A>  The computer is running slow as hell...(I tried deleting unnecessary programs/clearing out junk by running anti-virus/re-booting the machine/-etc.)

B> Entirely at random...the mouse just seems to keep on 'locking up' and 'freezing' completely; meaning, most frustratingly, I can't get any work done, smoothly, as I would wish; instead, it's a case of work..then, being forced to 'stop'.

...sometimes, it makes become angry and upset...not being able to get what I paid for...which is to use both the machine/and, the internet; then, I will just quit in disgust; returning straight back to bed.

Fri 23rd Aug 2019 Gambled: Bet £7/Won £12.00/Lost: 0.00 bal.

12:52 PM WOKE UP: VISITED WILLIAM HILL ONLINE: STARTED GAMBLING

Yesterday, I went and deposited £7.00 into my William Hill account; this deposit was made using my iPad 4 machine while lying down in bed; but, because I came in 'late' feeling extremely tired, I next went off to sleep without using any of the deposited funds.

As soon as I awoke, I signed in to William Hill online...using my Desktop computer machine...and, made up my mind this time to play not just Roulette, alone; but, also, experiment around by betting on multiple 'other' types of bet.

- Altogether, I made around 10 x 10p bets on purely random games: football/cricket/-etc.
-I played Blackjack...the first £1.00 I bet lost. Next time, I bet £2.00; and, it won: £4.00.
-I bet £2.00 on Lucky Spin...it lost!
-I registered to play 2 games of Poker @ 0.10p each. (I lost both Poker games.)

However, Roulette was the game I played in the main. When I played 10p Roulette; then, I mostly tended to win; sometimes, I also lost. When I switched to playing 20p Roulette, however, I lost absolutely everything; meaning my balance, quite literally, said: nil/0.00. Thus, I had no other choice but to quit gambling.

MY GAMBLING STRATEGY: BET LOW/FAR MORE FREQUENTLY...VS...BET HIGH/MUCH LESS FREQUENTLY

Naturally, of course, because I'm not just a total complete idiot; therefore, I am very deeply 'aware'...that although my latest betting strategy has been to no longer make huge bets: £50.00/£100.00/-etc.; but, instead, to bet smaller amounts consisting of: £5.00/£10.00/-etc.

However, because I'm betting a lot more frequently; like almost every single day...then, say I were to bet 5 days in the week/with 2 days off it...then, 5 x £5 = £25.00/5 x £10 = £50; thus, really not an awful lot has changed...because, almost invariably, I come away from the tables completely 'penniless'; therefore, I'm still loosing equally as much as when I did chose to bet really big.

Many times, I say to myself...it's time to go and take a holiday away from gambling; then, see how much it's possible for me to 'save'...because by investing all my time/effort/money into to gambling -which I will happily do all day/night long- the end result is that I'm left totally flat broke...which for a poor person is certainly no joke...as there's no money left to 'save'/or, use to pay all of my other bills with.

17:36 PM RIGHT NOW, I'M BROKE/THE REALLY WEIRD THING ABOUT IT IS I'M HAPPY

Unfortunately, the post office closes at 5:30 PM; which means it's now far too late for me to go off and make a deposit into my bank account. In a way, I feel really sad about that; and, in another way, I feel really glad; because, at least, it means I won't have any money left to go gambling with.

When I'm in the height of feeling 'gambling fever'...then, basically, there's nothing else that I'd much rather do; when, in fact, gambling is all I can 'think' of...chasing after my losses/and, also, making money to go on top of it.

All of that, of course, I know deep down is just a total 'illusion'...namely, if I were to win £100.00, today...; then, most probably, I would end up loosing 10 times that, tomorrow; this is because 9 out of 10 times, I lose. So, no matter how much I win...£10/£100/£1000.00...ultimately, I end up giving it all back to the bookies/and, more; thus, proving that gambling really ain't nothing but a 'dead end'.

Thu 22nd Aug 2019/Bet £10/won: £14/lost: 0.80p bal. Missed Lil Sullivan art class/arrived too 'late'! Tate Britain/2 drawings.

6 AM AWOKE/LET THE CAT IN/FED HER LIQUID FOOD

I woke up really early at around 6 AM; mainly because I forgot to let the cat in from the back garden; and, I usually feed her 'liquid food' 6 AM/6PM. The rest of the time I leave out 'dry food' to eat, instead.

Sure enough, soon as I opened up the door the cat came running inside from the back garden. I didn't need to call her to come; and, I gave her the 'liquid food'.

Looks like the 'liquid food' is fast running out, though; must be only 2 or 3 pouches left. l need to buy some more really soon. I think, a box of cat food costs £10.00 from Iceland; who open at 8 AM.

6:30 AM WENT DOWN THE ROAD TO GET FREE METRO NEWSPAPER/ALL THE TIME THINKING ABOUT 'DOING SOME DRAWING'...

Because I was now 'awake'/or, at least, 'half-awake'; therefore, I decided to go down the road and pick up a FREE copy of Metro newspaper; mainly for my mum to read; but, also, for me to very quickly glimpse through, sometimes.

As I walked down the road...all the time I'm looking all around me...and, constantly, 'wanting' to draw. But, I didn't bring any sketchbook/paper/or, pen along with me; so, instead, all I did was just look at such things as lines/ shapes/colours/textures/things over-lapping one another/thinking, too, about perspective, and, how that relates to a person's own eye line/-etc.; and, mentally, at least, I try and carefully analyse all of the stuff I see...(I even saw fox looking straight up at me; most probably, wanted me to give it some food to eat); but, I didn't do anything truly 'practical' to realise all of those same thoughts; which can be really frustrating!

I don't know why when I go down the road to pick up a newspaper...why, far more often than not, I don't even bother to take along a sketchbook/pen or pencil with me. However, my guess is it's due to sheer 'fear of failure'...which, quite often, makes me 'give up'...before I've ever even gotten 'started!'

7:30 AM GAMBLED AT WILLIAM HILL: BET £10.00/WON £14.00/LOST: 0.80P BAL

I'm afraid, I let myself get tempted to go betting, again. I bet £10.00; was winning at one point £14.00; then, I went and bet far too high £6.00...and, it lost...thus, cutting my money in half; I still continued gambling...as I just didn't wish to leave while having less than when I went in...however, my bets continued losing...eventually, I was forced to quit from the Roulette table with just 0.80p left. I usually need, at least, £3.00 money left to bet with; so, I didn't bother continuing anymore.

12:00 MIDDAY SPOKE TO IYKE ABOUT 'RECYLING LINE PICKER' JOB: ANSWER: NO
I already knew that my appointment to go to an job induction interview was tomorrow at 7 AM in Croydon. However, the Central London Works case worker guy who sent me there...did inform me to give them a phone call before turning up; so, I decided it would be best to introduce myself to him, right now, long before tomorrow comes.

When I phoned Iyke, the manager, on: 07955 233 484; and, explained to him I have to attend an induction there, tomorrow. His reply was that the person who does the inductions is off, at the moment; so there is no point in coming along tomorrow. He then asked me some further questions...asked me when was my last job? I told him, I haven't worked in quite a while. He also asked what was my last job? So, I told him I was an 'office worker/data entry' clerk working on the computer.  He told me...that this recycling job was, in fact, 'dirty' work...; and, that he doesn't think I would be suitable for it. I didn't bother arguing with him on having that opinion...because, frankly, I wasn't interested in the job in the first place; just applied purely due to the duress of if I don't turn up then Streatham Job Centre might cut off my benefit money.

-(The career I wish to pursue lies in office work/and, administration/data entry clerk/-etc.)-

When I had finished speaking to Iyke; I next took the opportunity to phone my case worker to explain that I was refused the induction/job. He, Jaye, said he's currently busy with a client; and, will note it down; we will discuss things further during my next Central London Works appointment.

1 PM PHONED BRIXTON HALFORDS TO INQUIRE IS MY BIKE READY, YET: ANSWER: NO

I phoned Brixton Halfords bike shop to inquire is my bike ready to collect, yet; I spoke to the guy who is meant to fix it called, Angus; but, the answer was, no. He said, he went and ordered the incorrect parts; so has to wait for another set of parts to arrive; he mentioned that he would make it a top priority to fix my bike as soon as possible; but, he said he couldn't put an exact date on it; possibly, sometime during next week.

2:12 PM RECEIVED PHONE CALL FROM LIL SULLIVAN ART TEACHER SAYING I SHOULD COME
I received a phone call from artist, Lil Sullivan, saying I should come to class, right now; even though nobody has turned up there, yet; though she does say she has her two grand children there to keep her company.

2:33 PM PHONED ARTIST, LIL SULLIVAN, AGAIN; TO CHECK IF STUDENT 'JENNY' HAS TURNED UP, YET? ANSWER: YES
I had promised an art student of Lil's called, Jenny that I would bring her some FREE art materials; however, I just wanted to be sure that she has turned up for class...as I don't wish to bring stuff down there...and, then, nobody is even there to receive it...; then, I have to bring all of that stuff back home, again; to me, that's a 'wasted' trip!

So, I phoned, first, to check that Jenny is there? The reply I got back was, yes. So, now, I'm getting ready to go off to my art class. With no bike, I will have to travel by bus; and, back. I already checked the British transport site:

http://www.tfl.gov.uk

...if my Oystercard travellers card has any money still available on it to spend; answer: yes. I think, the Oystercard balance said: £7.10p; which should be enough to pay for the bus ride both there and back, no problem.

4:10 PM I was watching an interesting YouTube video concerning learning Javascript...

...when, suddenly, I realised I'm getting later and later for my art class which begins at 2 PM; and, ends at 5 PM. So with really very little time left to get there...I walked/ran down the road. At age 56+...I can no longer run down the road all -(must be 200 yards, plus)- the way, easily, anymore; and, especially so when I'm not in the habit of practising doing any running; instead, I tend to walk at a tortoise pace as I go along.

Anyway, I wanted a number 2 bus...; however, a 68 bus came, first, instead; so, I decided rather than waste any more time...it's best to take that. When I got to Herne Hill...I had to get off the bus; and, change to take a different bus to Brixton; when I got to Brixton I had to change bus, again...this time I got a number 2.

By the time the number 2 bus had reached Vauxhall...I looked up at the bus digital clock located on the front top deck...and, the time said 5:01 PM; so, I knew now I was far too 'late'; because I still had to  do a rather lengthy walk in order to arrive there...and, I figured that the time I arrive at my final destination will be, at least, 5:15 PM; when everybody has already packed up and left.

As they say, 'the best laid plans of mice and men...tends to go awry!'

5:15 PM VISITED TATE BRITAIN GALLERY

Immediately, I decided to switch plans...staying on the number 2 bus...until it crossed over Vauxhall bridge...; then, I walked from there over to Tate Britain Gallery, Millbank, Pimlico.

I didn't get to stay inside of the gallery for too long; as the gallery closes down at 6 PM.

I did however used their FREE art materials to execute 2 drawings...

1 x statue foot
1 x statue head

...both of which drawings I left behind...signed/dated.

7 PM VISITED NATIONAL PORTRAT GALLERY/SHUT

I walked it from Tate Britain Gallery...towards the National Portrait Gallery; because I figured it's Thursday...and, they might have a FREE 'late' night drawing session.

However, when I arrived at NPG...; the gates were totally shut closed!

8:30 PM VISITED ALL SAINTS CLUB HOUSE, 131 CLEVELAND STREET/GAMBLERS ANONYMOUS

I was thinking what to do, next?

I recall stopping inside of Cass Art shop to check out seeing all of their art supplies; but, I couldn't actually afford to 'buy' anything. The guards watched me like crazy; pretty soon, I got totally fed up of it...and, left.

I went to MacDonalds...on Shaftesbury Avenue...Piccadilly Circus end; because I needed desperately to go take a 'leak'. I ordered...

1 x medium fries (which I ate inside)
1 x Coca Cola drink (which I ate outside)

Then, I walked off through Soho square...to go and visit All Saints Club House located on 131 Cleveland Street...which also houses Gamblers Anonymous.

When I arrived at the building...it, too, was shut!

9:30 PM RETURN TRIP HOME
So, I decided...rather than go for a walk around...it's getting darker and darker...and, my mum is expecting me back home, soon..so, it not time for pleasure walking...more a time for acting responsibly, and, playing it safe...so, I made my mind up to return.

From Great Portland Street tube station...I walked it down to Baker Street...quite a long walk. Now, just around the corner of Baker Street...one would normally find the number 2 bus stop situated just outside of MacDonald's. However, when I looked the bus stop was gone...?! This meant I had two choices open to me...either get another bus taking me to the end of the street/and, then, change. Or, walk down...; I felt tired/completely frustrated/and, did NOT wish to walk down. So, I jumped on any bus...forgot which number it was...stating it's going to Putney. Much to my surprise the bus took me all the way down Bond Street...past Green Park...Knightsbridge corner...towards Sloane Street; but, then, half way along Sloane Street...the bus veered off from the turning I actually wanted to go down. So, I had to alight off the bus...and, walk towards Sloane Square...to take the right bus...at the right turning. I had to wait pretty long to get a number 137 going to Streatham Hill(other buses arrived; just not mine); eventually I got one. At Streatham bus garage, (I got off the bus far too early...I recall asking the bus driver is this the last stop? He didn't even bother to answer me...so, I got off)...and, then, no 417 bus arrived...so, I took another bus going towards Streatham Hill train station; from there I crossed over into Leigham Court Road. At Leigham Court Road...again, I got fed up of waiting for the 417 to come...so, decided to walk up the hill...when I had reached the church...that's when the bus arrived...around 1 or 2 stops from my home bus stop at St Julian's Farm Road. Again, I got off the bus; and walked down the hill to reach back home. When I finally arrived inside of my home the time said: 11 PM +. I wrote my mum the message...that the bike needed fixing...so, I had to take bus home...and, thank God, she didn't complain(normally, she curses at me for coming in ever so late).

Now, that was a really strange evening...; as good as it was bad. At least, I went out...got some exercise doing some lengthy walking -the walking proved I was badly 'out of shape'!-; and, I even used buses, once more...when I would, usually, bike. It was fascinating being up close amongst stranger passenger people.

Only I have to say, I would much prefer taking bike...it's quicker...for doing short journies lasting between 1/2 an hour/up to 1 hour...because there is no constant 'waiting' around...instead, with every turn of the pedal...you just simply go there...and, can reach straight up to the final door....so, there is no need for doing any further walking like when you get off the bus.

(Of course, I'm going to have to explain to both Lil/Jenny why I had missed the class; possibly, when next week Thursday comes along.)
