Mon 231219 Went to Brighton...return ticket cost: £16.20

STAYED AT SHARON'S DURING THE NIGHT/MORNING

Yesterday, I stayed at my cousin Sharon's house.

They went out for a trip to London to see children's show: Shrek...with the children during the morning. I believe they went to Westminister in their car.

DECIDED TO GO AND VISIT BRIGHTON

I boarded the train at Kingswood station...; and, changed at East Croydon...with the intention to return back home to West Norwood.

However, on the opposite train platform...I noticed the train said it was headed towards Brighton. I had good memories about having visited Croydon before...though, I only did it just once, purely on a whim; therefore, I started thinking to myself...why not do it, again. So, I did...boarded the Brighton train.

We stopped at Gatwick airport...where I was able to see -through the train windows- the airplanes taking off. The train made two/or, possibly, three more stops...none of which were particularly significant to be worthwhile noting; then, eventually, we ended up at Brighton.

Unfortunately, my Oyster travel pass...doesn't actually work at Brighton; but, some conductor decided to let me through for FREE, anyway.

One of the first things I did when I got off at Brighton train station was find out where the toilets are...because I desperately needed to go take a leak. I asked one of the train ticket attendants...and, they said the toilets were off to the left side. I thought I might need to pay money to use the public toilets...but, fortunately, it was FREE. The next question I asked is where is the sea...and, I was told just keep on walking straight ahead. Sure enough when I walked far enough ahead...there is was sea. Wow! No buildings on the other side...just empty shoreline...and, water in between.

I had entered Greggs cake store...and, brought...

1 x Sausage roll
1 x Chocolate finger
1 x Cream finger
1 x Icing cake

...at a cost of £1.00 each.

Next, I went and brought some Rock sweets...in order to be able to remember the day.  I brought...

4 x long rocks
2 x short rocks
4 x fudges

...I can't remember the exact price...; but, I went into 2 different shops, at least; and, one shop charged me £11.xx; and, another around £5.xx.

I also went into Burger King...after my visit had ended...and, brought a cheese burger costing 0.99p. -(Really, I just wanted to use their toilet...the day was freezing cold...and, that made me wish to take a leak, truly, most desperately.)

I walked along the beach front...across the pebbled shore...-(but, didn't go anywhere else/not like last time...when I travelled all along the shore both up and down...it was just too 'cold')-..I walked up to where the waves were breaking...and, then, I walked back out.

As soon as, I saw it was getting really dark...winter evening...I decided to leave and go back home, again; didn't wish to miss my return back train.

Going there was FREE...; but, I was not half so lucky coming back, however; I should have simply boarded the train...without asking to go buy a ticket, first; the return ticket cost was: £16.20...which, frankly, left me feeling totally 'shocked'...and, put some dampers on the day.

LATEST UPDATE

(When I awoke the next morning, I did a search to find out what is the cost to a ticket to Brighton going from East Croydon? Answer confirmed: £16.20.)
