Tue 5th November/Fireworks night...worried about the cat...?! GPO Closed! Brought chips: £2.00/Tai Chi site: TheMartialMan.com

WORRIED ABOUT THE  CAT'S SAFETY ON FIREWORKS NIGHT...?! TOO, THE DAY BEFORE/AS WELL AS, THE DAY AFTERWARDS

I've been doing my utmost best to keep the cat quite safely inside of the home...all because it's, now, Fireworks night...the 5th of November.

The last thing I want to happen is my cat gets hit accidentally/or else, deliberately by some firework...and, then, she looses either limbs/or, an eye. I cannot afford vet bills to help fix her up.

So, what I've decided to do is keep the cat being locked up inside of the home during the day; and, only when it's already gone way past midnight...and, I can see/hear no fireworks going off out there...; then, I let her out to go and take a quick run.

She, usually, comes straight back in...during the morning time at 6 AM....ready for her dinner.

5:56 PM WENT WEST NORWOOD GPO-(General Post Office)/CLOSED

I went down to visit West Norwood GPO; only they were closed. Something I did find interesting, though...was they said it's possible to use the GPO card outside of the Post Office inside of the 'cash machine'...only trouble there was...the outside cash machine isn't working?! Whenever it does work...I will try using it, instead, of going in.

6 PM BROUGHT CHIPS FROM FISH & CHIPS SHOP £2.00

I went to my local West Norwood 'fish and chips' shop...where I've been buying chips since I was a child; this store is located only 2 streets away from me...at the bottom of the street...on the opposite side of the road...in between St. Julian's Farm Road/and, Wolfington Road.

Normally, the chips I brought cost £1.80; but, I guess, the price has gone up to become £2.00 now.

I also checked how much is 'fish & chips'...£3.80.

In a way, I'm glad the price has gone up...; as it means I am likely to buy chips/fish & chips far less, now.

Mon 041119 Cooked potatoes/rice. ;-)

ATTEMPTED TO LEARN HOW TO DO SOME COOKING

This is my 2nd time attempting to go cook some potatoes/rice; for which I used 2 entirely separate cooking pots.

1> Cooking Pot 1

Potatoe pot ingredients...

- Potatoes (4 large/peeled them/then, washed them/then, placed them inside of the large cooking pot covering them with water on top)
- 1 x sweet potatoe (wasn't too sure, how that would work; so, I used only one; worked perfectly fine)
- Green peppers (large...cut the large pepper into 4 parts/small..diced the small green peppers)
- 1 diced tomato
- 4 carrots (medium sized/cut in half)
- 1/4 of diced onion (large)
- 1 tablespoon of salt
- 1 heaped tablespoon of butter

...waited between 1/2 an hour to 1 hour for everything to cook. The potatoes tasted just 'perfect'; soft enough to eat(not too hard/not too soft). The side effect is there is also pot soup to drink.

2> Cooking Pot 2

Placed 2 cupfuls of rice...into an empty medium sized cooking pot...; then, poured water from the hot water tap on top of it...to wash it...stirring it with my fingers...; then, using a sieve to pour any dirt away; repeated washing and rising and sieving three times.

When done washing...I covered the rice over with cold water this time...just by around 1/4 inch on top...; and, brought the whole thing to a boil; once boiled I turned down the fire...to let it simmer for the next 1/2 an hour...up to...1 hour long.

I also placed inside of the rice...

- Chopped small peppers
- Diced onion
- Diced tomato
- 1 flat tablespoon of salt
- 2 eggs (I wanted to make: egg fried rice)

The rice turned out ok; that is edible...not quite as 'light and fluffy' as I would have preferred, though; just a little bit 'dry', instead. However, all of that said and done, I returned back to have, at least, 3 different helpings.

Alongside the rice, I also had...

- 1/4 chopped cucumber
- 1 chopped tomato
- Cheese Coleslaw (wanted to eat it...before it went off)

CONCLUSION

I enjoy eating food that tastes totally 'fresh'...as opposed to eating pre-manufactured supermarket food which tends to taste slightly 'stale'.

I think, that in order to learn how to cook really well...it takes a certain amount of time/effort/patient practice...; then, you learn how to 'adjust' stuff...so that the selected ingredients all work really well together; and, also, knowing how much to put in/leave out. Unfortunately, I'm still a mere beginner in this field...so, I'm bound to make a few errors here and there(putting too much of this/too little of that/-etc). The truth is, at the moment, all I'm really doing is just peeling/washing/and, hotting things up...which isn't really cooking; other than at a purely 'amateur' level.

For me, it is a huge leap...to know that I'm no longer dependent on others anymore to go make me some dinner; as I'm now able to prepare dinners for myself, instead. Some of the most basic dishes there are is: 'potato/rice'...; so, once you've mastered learning how to make those basics...it opens up a whole entire world of other possibilities...as there are many foods which go in conjunction with these(Chicken & rice/Fish & potatoes/-etc).

However, make no mistake about it...I wouldn't even dare call myself a 'cook', yet! I still don't know how to prepare food such as: fish/chicken...how to select what is 'the best' from the supermarket/or, grocers...nor how to prepare it...such as skin it/cut it/take out bones/waste parts/curry it all up/-etc. In fact, I'd be scared to have to cook either fish/chicken...as I think I'd make a right total mess! Still everybody has to learn by starting off somewhere...; so, maybe, one day I'll try.

Nevertheless, I feel a huge hurdle has been climbed...; as it's taken me, quite literally, 56 years long...just to learn how to cook basic: rice/potato. The good thing about it is...once the beginning point has been reached; then, there is never no turning back; instead, one will gradually go on to learn more and more about how to cook things more properly, in future.

Sun 031119 Indian Take Away: 2 x Roti: £1.75/British Gas PAYG Electricity meter top up: £8.00/Shopped: CoOp: £12.83

8 AM MORNING: MADE HEALTHY FOOD/SALADS

I decided to go and make some healthy food to eat...instead, of the usual: salt crisps/chocolate biscuits/ice cream/-etc. I made...

2 x boiled eggs (gave one to my mum/eat the other myself)

2 x eggs...to make egg omelette, ingredients: eggs/cheese/tomato/onions/salt/pepper (which I eat myself with 2 slices of brown bread and butter)

1 x pack of carrots (I used the 'high speed' mixer to dice it with; then, placed the ingredients into some small square Tupperware bowl; my mum eat some/the rest of which I eat myself)

1 x pack of Mango juice (which I took from out of the fridge; the carton was actually opened up a few days ago...so, fearing that it might at some point get 'stale'/become inedible...I decided to use it, immediately, right away)

Having to prepare food for yourself...takes a fair amount of effort...having to prepare cooking/cutting utensils...then, wash/peel food...then, get bowls to store things in...then

DAY: SLEPT

Most of the rest of the day, I spent sleeping in bed. Woke up, afternoon.

My real intention to go down the road was to go and buy my mum some chips; because she had requested it.

However, when I went down the road...I found that the usual chip shop I tend to buy from was already closed.

Thus, I decided to change what was my original plan...; and, go and buy something else, instead.

8 PM EVENING: WEST NORWOOD INDIAN TAKE AWAY

I ordered...

2 x Roti bread costing £1.75.

I couldn't make up my mind about what other food to buy; as it's all Indian names on the menu...none of which I'm too familiar with...?! So, I just didn't bother buying any further food at all.

I told them I would go off and do some shopping; and, then, come back to collect, afterwards.

When I did go and collect after having done the rest of my shopping; and, then, returned home. I gave some of the Roti bread to my mum(she only wanted a small piece); and, ate the rest myself.

8:10 PM BROUGHT £8.00 WORTH OF ELECTRICITY TO PUT ON A PAYG KEY/AND, STILL NO LIGHT...?! £15.xx OWING AS METER 'STANDING CHARGE' DEBT

It's been a long time since we last saw 'light' downstairs; because I had decided to use that money, instead, to go and buy other things; and, as a replacement for the downstairs lighting...I simply used a torch.

Anyway, I had gotten pretty tired of having to go use a torch; as many times, I can't find where it is.../or else, the batteries need replacing; and, so on; sometimes, the torch accidentally falls...and, then, I wonder if it's broke...will I have to go and 'buy' another...?! Etc.

So, I went and brought £8.00 worth of electricity to put on the Pay As You Go key.

However, when I came back home...much to my surprise...when I put the key into the gas key meter...there was no light; instead, the meter said...I still owed them £15.xx in outstanding debt!

One has to remember...because British Gas charges a regular monthly standing charge for gas meter usage...therefore, -even if you're not actually using the gas- over time this standing charge fee does gradually build up and up.

Basically, what this all means is...I will have to pay British Gas, at least, £15 to £16...before I can get to use the Electric meter ,again.

8 PM WEST NORWOOD CO-OP SUPERMARKET

I decided to do some shopping inside of my local CoOp supermarket. I brought...

2 x bunches of banana's
1 x Tuna spread
1 x Egg Mayonnaise spread
4 x  round bread rolls
2 x cucumbers
1 x custard
1 x Apple pie
1 x packet of choc ices
1 x packet of chocolate cream eclairs
1 x carton of Alpro Soya
2 x Whiskers cat food(dry treats)

Total: £12.83 (I paid £10.00 cash/and, £2.83 I paid using bank debit card)

-(NOTE: Much to my surprise, both Aldi/and, Iceland supermarkets were both closed on Sunday; which is really weird...as it means, the CoOp supermarket which still remains open...makes all it's profit without any other competition.)-

Wed 301019 Shopped: Iceland/CoOp/MOOC: BitDegree.org/Brought Udemy course: Javascript, The Complete Guide: 9.99

7:50 PM SHOPPED: ICELAND
I decided to very quickly ride my bike down the road to do some shopping at West Norwood Iceland supermarket store.

I brought mostly ice cream...

2 x packs of 3 belgian ice cream lollies £1.00 each
3 x packs of ice cream cones £1.00 each/different flavours: choclate/mint/strawberry
2 x packs of 15 mixed variety sized eggs
1 x pack of mince beef £2.00
1 x cheese square £2.00

8:15 PM SHOPPED: CoOp

After shopping at Iceland; I decided to cross the road and buy some shopping inside of the CoOp superstore.

6 x Toffee apples £0.79p each.

10 PM LEARNING WEB SITE: BITDEGREE.ORG

https://www.bitdegree.org/user/410463/profile

...I went and did a FREE Udemy Coupon search; which, eventually, led me to BitDegree.org web site; apparently, I'm already a member.

I used the coupon to sign up for, at least, 3 courses; -(should have selected those courses more carefully; but, I didn't realise the FREE coupon code would run out after just 3 selections)-.

11:27 PM BROUGHT UDEMY COURSE: JAVASCRIPT, THE COMPLETE GUIDE

https://www.udemy.com/course/javascript-the-complete-guide-2020-beginner-advanced/learn/lecture/15853178#overview

I brought a Javascript course for £9.99 from Udemy.com. The instructor is a person who I've already studied doing course with before; especially, FREE YouTube courses.

I didn't really wish to 'buy' it, at first...because, the truth is, I'm broke; but, I am also very deeply interested in learning Javascript as best I can...; as Javascript is a necessary basic ingredient for learning especially web based programming/as well as, you can use it offline, too, inside of NodeJS.

Mon 281019 Texas Hold 'em FREE chips BIG win/GPO/CoOp/Grocery store/Brought £10.00 worth of Fish & Chips +

5-12 AM BIG FACEBOOK: TEXAS HOLD 'EM/FREE CHIPS WIN: 500,028,000! (half a trillion)

On Facebook I started playing Texas Hold 'em poker...starting off with around 2 million FREE chips; then, that total gradually 'grew and grew' to become: 528 million FREE chips.

NOTE: In reality, none of these FREE chips is worth absolutely anything; because you can't spend it(in real life)/nor can you cash it in for real money. When I looked...it said that the price of buying 500 million chips is £10.00 cash; as, normally, they tend to give you a couple hundred thousands in  FREE chips to play with/up to 5 million worth if you pause to watch their video adverts.

Anyway, the end result of my game, as usual, was 0 chips left! First, I went and did a special game where the 'buy in' was 500 million; and, it lost...; thus, leaving me with 28 million FREE chips left; then, within a few more games...1 or 2...each time going 'all in'...I found I'd just gone and lost the next 28 million chips; which, of course, left me with absolutely 0 balance.

So much for gambling...where life is always unsure; the only sure thing about gambling is chips death!

4 PM NORWOOD GPO

I had to go out, and, make a deposit...as certain bills remain 'unpaid'...including:

- Thames Water
- British Gas
- Talk Talk broadband
- etc.

Inside of the Post Office I also brought 6 x boxes of cat food: £1.19 each/and, of two different variety flavours.

4:15 PM SHOPPED: CO-OP

I brought some shopping inside of the Co-Op...across the road from the post office.

Cat food pouches 3 for £1.00 x 15
1 loaf of French stick bread £0.95p
3 x Large Max crisps Extra Hot Jalpeno & Cheese £1.00 each
3 x bunches of bananas £1.00 each
2 x plastic CoOp carrier bags

5 PM BROUGHT SOME OTHER FOOD GROCERY

After coming back home; and, depositing my 2 full Co-op bags...I decided to go back out, again; and, do some further shopping...; at the green grocers just 2 streets away...I brought...

2 x Guava Pears £1.00 each
Loose bag of green peppers/small £1.00
Big peppers £1.00
2 x Cucumbers £1.00 for both

Anyway, in all I did £5.00 worth of green grocer shopping; then, came back home.

6 PM BROUGHT SOME FOOD FROM THE FISH & CHIP SHOP

As a final going out trip for the day...I went back down the road to buy some food from my local fish & chip shops...just one street away:

1 x Fish
1 x Chips
1 x Jamaican beef Pattie
1 x Sausage in batter
1 x Steak and Kidney pie

I gave the lady behind the counter a £10.00 note; and, she returned me back just £0.80p change.

-(Actually, she gave me back £1.00; because she didn't have 20p change; and, I promised to pay her, later. Then, when I went home...I immediately ran back down the road to pay her the 20p.)

I think, I brought so much chip shop food...just in order to celebrate my having won so big at Texas Hold 'em Poker...the which winning level I'd never achieved before. Even though winning FREE chips is actually worth, quite literally, nothing!

9 PM CONTINUED DOING SOME FURTHER FACEBOOK APPS GAMBLING
I continued doing some further Facebook apps gambling...

- Texas Hold 'em Poker
- WSOP/World Series Of Poker

...hoping all the time that I could somehow emulate what I had won this morning; however, sure enough, that wasn't possible; and, instead, I just went and lost it all(as usual).

Thu 241019 Signed on.../Shopped: Streatham Aldi

-(This post is being updated on the 27th...; so, I cannot precisely recall all events which may have happened; however, I will attempt to recall whatever it is I can....)

1:10 PM SIGNED ON AT STREATHAM JOB CENTRE

I signed on at Streatham Job Centre...with job advisor Richard...at 1.10 PM.

The really scary thing there was, I forgot to do any job search...not until the actual appointment day arrived; at which point just before attending my appointment...I did 3 pages full. Well, when I turned up at the job centre...Richard, asked me where is my job search; and, I must sign in to the computer in order to 'prove' it to him. Then, when I had signed in to the computer...he went and checked only 3 pages long; of course, had he checked any further along in the job search history results...he would have seen that my last job search was, actually, done on the 9th! So, I guess, I was tremendously lucky to be let off...

1:30 PM SHOPPED: STREATHAM ALDI SUPERSTORE

After coming out of Streatham Job Centre...I decided to shop at Streatham Aldi...which is one of the 'cheapest' shopping superstores in London. I went inside and brought...

- Potatoes (4 bags of plain/1 bag of sweet potatoes)
- Carrots (2 x bgs of carrots)
- Onions (2 x bags of onions)
- Garlic (2 x garlic)
- Tomatoes (2 x tomatoes)

...the shopping I did was really very heavy to carry; so, I also had to buy 4 thick carrier bags...which I 'doubled up' inside of one another...leaving me with 2 full bags to go carry along.

1:45 PM THE BIKE JOURNEY HOME

Next, I balanced two really heavy shopping bags on both sides of my bike handle bars...one bag on either side. The journey home was both difficult and slow. Sometimes, I had to walk...; because I was finding it very difficult to ride and balance the load, effectively; however, eventually, I did arrive home with very little incidence.

Though, there was one point where I fell off my bike...; and, had to pick the shopping bags up, again.

2 PM MISSED ART CLASS

I believe it was raining all day...just lightly drizzling, actually; but, it is Winter time...and, so rather cold. Somehow or other, I decided to remain at the computer and not go out, again; thus, I didn't bother with attending my usual Lil Sullivan art lesson that evening(2PM-5PM/Ackerman Medical Health Center, Vauxhall).

CONCLUSION

(Right now, because it's days later on...I cannot recall exactly what I did with the rest of the day; therefore, I think, I'll just leave the rest of this journal entry here.)
